*Joining Our Clinic in North Wyong Late 2026
Dr Yu obtained his medical degree from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (UK) in 2019 and completed his General Practice training as an Academic Clinical Fellow, also in the UK. After becoming a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP, UK) in 2025, he decided to relocate to Australia in 2026 to be near his family and enjoy the opportunity to spend time with his 5-year-old niece.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Yu served as an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Warwick (UK) from 2022 to 2026 before moving to Australia. His role involved teaching medical students at Warwick Medical School whilst working with academic clinicians and researchers at the Unit of Academic Primary Care in diverse fields including metabolic syndrome, menopause, safe prescribing, and palliative care. He was awarded a Master of Science (by Research) in Health Sciences in 2025 for his research on understanding dying as a normal, ordinary or natural process in primary palliative care. He published one of his research projects in BMC Palliative Care (Springer Nature Link) in 2026, titled “Dying as a ‘normal’, ‘ordinary’ or ‘natural’ process in palliative care: A systematic scoping review and narrative synthesis”.
Dr Yu’s main areas of interest are chronic disease management (particularly in hypertension, type II diabetes, hypercholesterolaemia, osteoporosis, fatty liver disease and chronic kidney disease), ear, nose and throat (ENT), and palliative care. He is also interested in dermatoscopic assessment and minor surgery of skin lesions, and is excited to join the Coastal Health Clinic to further expand his knowledge and skills in this field.
At the core of Dr Yu’s practice is the belief that patients should feel comfortable sharing their ideas, concerns and expectations about their health. He strives to be both a reliable and approachable GP, always endeavouring to ensure his patients feel fully heard and supported, with their health needs thoroughly addressed.
